You Kill Me (2007)

You Kill Me (2007) – Rated R

Netflix Blurb:

After alcoholic hit man Frank (Ben Kingsley) botches an assignment, he leaves the Polish mob family he works for to clean up the mess and relocates to San Francisco, where he dries out, gets a job at a mortuary and falls in love with Laurel (Téa Leoni). But when a rival gang threatens the family, he returns to take care of business — with Laurel in tow. Philip Baker Hall and Dennis Farina co-star in director John Dahl’s quirky crime comedy.

So…I watched this as part of the Hitmen in Love series on Popcorn Dialogues and wasn’t expecting much mostly because the last couple of movies in the series have just sucked. I mean, Ben Kingsley is either in really good movies or really bad movies.  This one, however is really, REALLY good.

There are not only some really great people in this movie, and some really great scenes, but this is laugh out loud funny. Seriously. The Mafia Intervention is one of the best scenes I’ve seen in a long time.

As is often the issue with Indie movies the lighting in this movie is dark, literally, and it’s not only annoying but it’s hard to actually see what’s going on. Of course, this could be because I’m getting old but I’m blaming it on the film. Be sure to add this to the queue.
